HISAKA Glossary (for Heat Exchangers)

This is a glossary of terms that are found in
drawings and catalogs when using your HISAKA product.

P distance piece gasket The gasket for non-wetted part of D-plate and E-plate.
PHE Plate Heat Exchanger
Plate Heat transfer plate
Plate arrangement Indicates the types of heat transfer plates, their order, and the number of channels Click here for details
Plate crack test
(CIP: Cleaning In Place)
Test to check for cracks in intermediate plates, using an airtight test Click here for details
Plate gasket Refer to the following information regarding material notation of seal material that is installed on a heat transfer plate. Click here for details
Pneumatic test Test that is performed while manufacturing the equipment or after maintenance, to check the test pressure inside the equipment and for external leakage (pressure resistance test)
Porthole Openings in heat transfer plates and frames that allow fluids to flow in/out
Pressure resistance test Test that is performed while manufacturing the equipment or after maintenance, by filling the equipment with water or compressed air to check the test pressure inside the equipment and for external leakage

Protective cover -> Bolt cover, Splash prevention cover
Protective cover for construction Cover (usually metal) to prevent heat transfer plates from contamination by flying objects in the environment such as during construction
It covers the top and both sides of the heat transfer plates while the equipment is being transported.
Protruding nozzle Nozzle with a structure that the pipe nozzle protrude from the frame
PT inspection Method of inspection that uses penetrant testing fluid to evaluate defects in openings on the surfaces of heat transfer plates, nozzle integrity, and surface defects Click here for details
P type Structure with a guide bar support behind the E. frame
This structure is applicable when there is a large number of heat transfer plates, and for medium-size and large models.
